The APF originally designed by Professors R. Soulet and A. Besombes already took the form of a double, u-shaped gutter joined at the base in relation to the correct occlusion. However, these appliances varied in shape and design according to their application and to the different pathologies: the bars varied in length, height, thickness, allowance and inclined plane.
